About PlasmaBiotics

Founded in 2011 in Paris, France, PlasmaBiotics is a young and innovative company that specializes in the drying and storage of endoscopes. Its  core products are the PlasmaTYPHOON, an ultra-fast drying unit for endoscopes, and the PlasmaBAG, a single-use device for active storage with plasma. The products deliver superior and efficient performance by significantly reducing endoscope reprocessing cycle times. These innovations minimize the risk of bacterial contamination through a highly effective drying mechanism for the endoscopic channels and active storing of the endoscopes with plasma.  The PlasmaBiotics products also integrate fairly easily into most current endoscope reprocessing protocols.

In 2017, PlasmaBiotics was awarded the first prize at the Innovative Medical Companies Awards by the Alliance for Biologic and Medical Engineering. 

In 2018, PENTAX Medical, a division of the HOYA Group, acquired a controlling interest in PlasmaBiotics SAS, to strengthen the hygiene portfolio and the continued focus on reducing cross-contamination risks.

Perfect drying 

PlasmaTYPHOON is designed to reduce the risk of infection by perfectly drying the scopes. Insufficient drying can be a source for microbial contamination and the transmission of infectious material.

Controlled storage 

The active storage in the PlasmaBAG allows the storage of endoscopes, preserving the disinfection level already achieved. Inadequate storage can be a source of microbial contamination and transmission.

Perfect drying

Reaching a perfectly dry status for endoscopes is crucial for ensuring greater hygiene and potentially lowering infection. The PlasmaTYPHOON uses an innovative approach to offer complete drying, quickly and efficiently.

One to five minutes (depending on the model of the scope) is all that is needed to completely dry an endoscope.

While high velocity flow would break fluid, making it more difficult to dry, PlasmaTYPHOON uses a combination of different level of flows (laminar and turbulent) and temperature to completely dry endoscopes.2)

“Accurate endoscope drying is crucial, whereas a humid environment facilitates microbial growth during storage. The final drying steps greatly reduce the risk of remaining pathogens.1)

Controlled storage

Preserving endoscopes’ dry and disinfected state is as important as reaching that status in the first place. A humid storage environment facilitates microbial growth and the transmission of infectious material: only by actively storing endoscopes can this be overcome.

The PlasmaBAG stores the dry endoscopes in their disinfected state by insufflating plasma containing ozone molecule into the storage bag, thus ensuring the disinfected state is maintained. It allows safe endoscope transportation, while also reducing the need for repeat reprocessing.

The PlasmaBiotics System is a versatile solution with the ability to reprocess scopes efficiently at higher numbers, as well as to be transported easily and safely. 

As drying and storage is applied to the scope singularly and not as an array, it is more flexible than standard methods, such as a drying cabinet, avoiding any duplication of processing endoscopes, and thus providing  an optimized workflow.

PENTAX Medical acquires majority stake in PlasmaBiotics SAS, a technology innovator focused on the ultra-fast channel drying and active storage of endoscopes.

Fall may 2018, PlasmaBiotics delivered its innovative systems in the maintenance center of world leader in endoscopes manufacturing. To this day, FUJIFILM, PENTAX and OLYMPUS already using in France PlasmaTYPHOON on a daily basis in their maintenance centers.

PlasmaBiotics accelerates international deployment of PlasmaTYPHOON with new installations:

  • The first installation of a PlasmaTYPHOON in Great Britain, via UK distributor, PFE Medical
  • The first installation of two PlasmaTYPHOON devices in Eastern Europe, through live sales.

We have just produced our 75th PlasmaTYPHOON unit, all of which are in daily operation with customers, the oldest since three years. In addition PlasmaTYPHOON's software has been updated, giving via the admin mode new configuration settings for users. Finally, the PlasmaBAG that will be available soon is recyclable: When burned, the material provides energy, but without toxic releases except CO2.

PlasmaBiotics has a new customer, the Gustave Roussy Institute, which is the largest European center for oncology. The following video shows the PlasmaTYPHOON system used daily by hospital staff.

PlasmaBiotics first sold a PlasmaTYPHOON with a World Leader in the endoscope industry in Japan.

PlasmaBiotics continues its development in France; new innovative PlasmaTYPHOON systems were installed at : Orthez Clinic, HYERES Hospital Center, HNO TARARE (North West Hospitals), CHP EUROPE, AP-HP Ambroise Paré in Boulogne, Meudon Clinic, Tarbes Hospital Center.

PlasmaBiotics installed the first PlasmaTYPHOON in Switzerland, via distributing company Med-in-One.

In addition to a large French presence with nearly 40 installed systems, we now start prospecting in England, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and Spain.

PlasmaBiotics was awarded on Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Competition for 2017' Innovative Medical Technologies. The company received the 1st ex-aequo prize awarded by the Alliance for Biological and Medical Engineering: AGBM

Caen's Miséricorde Hospital Foundation, Amiens's Victor Pauchet clinic, La Roche sur Yon's Saint Charles clinic and the ambulatory digestive endoscopy center of Strasbourg also adopted the PlasmaTYPHOON.

A true avalanche of orders for PlasmaTYPHOON in the fall of 2016. The following hospitals units and clinics trusted us :Meaux HC, Poissy and Saint Germain en Laye HCI, Nantes (second one) UHC, Belley HC, Montluçon HC, Fujifilm France (third one), Antony's Private Hospital, Turin Clinic in Paris.
